About Coach Crystal

Fitness enthusiast turned powerlifter, bodybuilding athlete, trail runner and now — coach.

Helping other people on their fitness journey is something I truly love. I have spent a lot of time figuring it out on my own. When I finally sought the help of trainers, coaches and mentors, that’s when the change started.

I think we often forget how valuable coaching and help from another human being can be. It is in our DNA. In order to survive, we looked out for our community and shared stories of lessons we had to learn the hard way.

I want you to have a clear road map to your goals and know you are not alone. That is why I share my personal journey and offer Remote and In-Person Personal Training.

2001

Bulimia became my best friend and source of comfort through difficult times. It stuck by my side through age 27.

2013

Binge eating took the place of Bulimia leading me to my heighest weight of 210 pounds. I finally took control of my life and lost 70 pounds in 2014.

2015

By becoming the athlete I always wanted to be I competed in my first Bodybuiling Figure competition and countless Spartan Obstacle Course races, half maratons, and 5k runs.

TODAY

I now love every inch of and roll on my body. I practice gratitude by treating my body with love and respect through proper fitness and nutrition.

WHO IS CRYSTAL GASKIN?

I’m a recovering self-sabotaging, self-loathing, self-destructing woman who has spent years learning to love herself fully. Not when I have on the right outfit, my curls fall just right, or I catch the eye of my beau. Not when the scale hits the right numbers like a Vegas slot machine or when I hit my macros just right. Unconditional self-love no matter what.

This is a process. A continued process. It doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen in 6 weeks after which you can abandon the process. This is a second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, month by month, year by year process.

I’ve had to learn and relearn this lesson over and over. My confidence isn’t innate, nor is it always strong. Life still crushes me—but I’ve built a toolkit of healthy habits and a care team that consists of my doctor, personal trainer, therapist, and dietitian to combat it.

Through sound nutrition, consistent exercise, and personal development I have overcome my self-defeating ways, I want to lead the charge to help others do the same.

.

Body of Gratitude was started to encourage women to heal themselves from the inside out. I’ve had a torrid past with abusing food and exercise as a recovering bulimic. I’ve been underweight, overweight, and severely obese. In 2013, I finally decided to break the cycle. The same tools I used to break me down I used to build me back up. Proper nutrition is the best medicine and exercise is wonderful for the mind, body, and soul.

I teach others nutrition and fitness so that they can heal themselves, too. Even if you haven’t had an unhealthy relationship with food, your body will thank you for treating it well. The benefits of proper wellness and the correlation to longevity cannot be overstated.

“Now all discipline seems to be painful at the time, yet later it will produce a transformation of character, brining a harvest of righteousness and peace to those who yield to it.” — Hebrews 12:11 NLT
